There are no marvelous chances and sudden reasons in the history, which began in 1906. Cold intention brought together Claus Yoganes Voss, Christian Lausen and Wilhelm Dzambor - Hamburg banker and merchant and a Berlin engineer. The Purpose was simple and prosaic – to modernize small company "Simplo Filler Pen Company" and attempt by all truths and untruths to take one of the leading places on the market of fountain pens. in two years of the business bettered. It was necessary to increase the number of workers and to draw new companions.
In 1909 the company produces the first fountain pen "Rouge et Noir" ("red and black"). And in a year it represented on the market its article called "Montblanc". Shortly before this Carl Shalk, one of co-owners of the company, returning home with companions after a card game, suddenly asked: "why don’t we take Mont Blanc for our guardian angel? The highest Alpine top as the symbol of our successes... In my opinion it’s completely appropriate and reasonable ". They decided to label the best models with "Montblanc" inscription and to crown with white hexagram. Elegant stylized design of snowy top contours. Legendary "Meisterstuk" pen, which in 1930 glorified the company for the whole world was produced with this mark. At that time all the basic "attributes" of the company were finally affirmed: snowy star on black background, inscription on the ring and the number "4810" (height of Mont Blanc), which from now on, having become the certain cabalistic code, dominated everywhere: on feathers, in the time-table the company’s colleagues, in the quantity of copies of limited series.

4800 diamonds, which decorated jewelry version "Meisterstuk Solitaire Royal" (pure silver, 23-carat gold and the above-mentioned number of diamonds) became the reason for the fact that this fountain pen was written into the Guinness world records book "as the most expensive writing instrument in the world".
